My name is Mateo and I'm a sophomore at Sully Buttes School. I am in Spanish II and I have chosen Ricky Martin for my web page because he is a new star with his hit record, “Livin la Vida Loca.”
RECENTLY Ricky Martin preformed “La copa de La Vida” at the Grammy Awards show in February 1999. Also “Livin la Vida Loca” his first American single has become the largest selling #1 single in Columbia Records history.
BEFORE Ricky Martin became famous he had to be born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on December 24, 1971. Rick Martin first started to perform in grade school, where he sang in the choir and participated in school plays. Around the age of ten, Martin discovered a Latin boy group "Menudo". He received an audition but was rejected for being too young. Later though, he received a spot with them in 1984. For the next five years, he spent much of his time doing recording work and tours until 1989 when he left the group and moved to New York. For the next six years, he waited for a break which accured in 1995 when his Spanish album Medio Vivir was released and reached world wide sales of 600,000 within six months, and was certified gold in 1997. From there, he became a big star with two more hit albums.
